Missy in Michigan asked:

I would like to pursue an MBA and an MA in French at the same time (or an applicable joint or international business program). I have a 3.888 GPA for a BA in French from the University of Michigan. I don’t want to incur any more student loans if I can help it. I am willing to relocate within the U.S. How do I narrow down my search with so many graduate schools to choose from?

It doesn’t appear to be ranked, but seems like a great program. Temple is a solid name in my opinion. They have an International MBA which is one year, where you get to study in Tokyo, Paris and Philadelphia. That is perfect for what I want to do. I’m looking for some information about the school beyond what’s on their website. FYI, I’m also applying to Thunderbird, The University of Hawaii and possibly USC. I know USC is the best, but it will be a stretch. About me:

-GPA: 3.45/4.0 in major
-Paralegal Diploma at NYU (post B.S.) GPA: 3.85
-Will have 2 years work exp. with one of the largest corporate law firms in the world upon matriculation.
-Hoping to get at least a 600 on GMAT

I am interested in getting an online MBA, with a focus in international business or global management. I have info from American Intercontinental Univ and they seem legit. University of Phoenix seems good but someone told me to be wary of them. I need a program that can be completed in roughly one year, and that is affordable yet effective in its teachings.

Suggestions? Personal experience? Websites to visit? Everything welcome! Thanks so much!

Hello all
I am a 25 year old student who is pursuing masters in computer science in the US. I am an international student. I am left with about 6 months in my graduate program .
I have realised that computer programming , development/testing etc are not something that i want to do for the rest of my life. I think i made a hasty decision by choosing masters in computer science.
I want to get an MBA degree that will add value to my resume and improve my chances in the job market on the business side.
I think some of my strengths are communication skills, ability to interact with all kinds of people, people management, good language skills and a good analytical mind.
I am very dependable and trustworthy.
Considering all this ,I wonder what MBA program would best suit me and which is the best program available in the US.
I have no idea about any of the business major. Please throw some light on the majors and kindly suggest how to go about getting the best MBA program….
all answers greatly appreciated . thanks in advance

-ambitious guy

Does anyone know of an international law degree program (not criminal justice) that you don’t have to give up your day job for 3-4 years in order to take?

I’m looking to compliment my MBA in International Business Strategy and my Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a law degree but I haven’t been able to find anything that I can do in-between contracts.

I’m a Management Consultant by trade but I’m not making that much in the way of income that I can take off 3-4 years without working to pursue another degree.
Nice — Starts October 2009 which is perfect timing.

Not quite exactly what I’m looking for but is actually a nice fit considering it covers finance and economics as well.

I looked at some schools that do not require the GMAT test for an MBA and also do not require any sort of work experience. Obviously these schools are not really top tier, but they are all accredited. Does that mean that it’s safe to get your MBA at a school like that as long as it is accredited?

I know that a lot of people will say how important it is to go to a good school. My problem is however that I have almost no work experience. I previously studied in the United States as an international student and obtained my bachelors. However, due to my status I was not allowed to work for most of the time. Now that I am back in my native country, there are no jobs here at all!!! The economy is simply so bad here. It has always been bad and has now become disastrous due to the financial crisis. So I am kind of clueless what to do. I see my only option in pursuing an MBA program and then interning during my studies at companies. However, I do not even know how to get into any good programs as I am not able to find even the most simple job in my country.

Can anybody please offer me some advice?

Note: I do not have any problem with taking the GMAT. It’s the work experience I am lacking and I have no clue how to get it. Since I only have a bachelors I also do not hear back from companies in other countries.

So I have a choice between two schools: Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS) and University of San Francisco (USF).

MIIS is a full time program and focuses on international business and foreign language. If I went there I would have to take 5 to 6 classes per semester, which sounds really hard. I would also be about $50K in debt when I finished. But the program would be good and it’s being bought by Middleburry College, an Ivy League School

USF would be part-time and I could work while going to school. It would take longer to finish, but I wouldn’t be in as much debt (about $20k at most) when I got out. The starting pay for someone with an MBA from USF is probably a little higher as well. But, I wouldn’t get to live in Monterey, which I kind of want to do.

This decision is killing me. I have no idea what to do!!!
